prokaryotic cell:

  1. generally smaller in size 1-10 um
  2. nucleod (genetic material) is not surrounded by a nuclear membrane and is in direct contact with cytoplasm..
  3. prokaryotic cell contains single chromosome..
  4. nucleus is absent in projaryotic cell..
  5. membrane bound call organelles are also absent..
  6. they are always unicellular..
  7. example: bacteria, blue green algae etc...

eukaryotic cell:

  1. they are generally larger in size 5-100 um.
  2. distict nucleus is present and nuclear material is surrounded by a nuclear membrane and is not in direct contact with cytoplasm..
  3. contains more than one chromosome..
  4. nucleus is present..
  5. membrane bound cell organelles are present..
  6. often multicellular..
  7. example: fungi, plant and animal cell..
