Displaced and Transfer

Explanation:

  • Displaced:
  1. In a chemical reaction in which any group is removed from its position and is attached to the other molecule and it is done because some molecule that has more affinity to bind to its position and replace it, then it is said that the molecule is displaced and the reaction is known as displacement.
  2. The molecule is displaced only in the presence of other group or molecule which have higher affinity to replace it.
  3. The best example of displaced molecule is addition of zinc into the copper sulphate solution which is of blue colour, turns colourless as the zinc ions will displace copper ions.
  • Transfer:
  1. In a chemical reaction in which any group is removed from its position and is attached to the other molecule, it is called as transfer.
  2. Transfer does not need the attachment of any other group to its position.
  3. The best example of transfer of group can be seen in the reaction of transamination.
  4. In which amino group is transferred from amino acid to acceptor keto acid.
