What is the diffrence between active and extinct volcano

active volcano: active volcano erupt frequently and throw out lava ,gases ,ashes and rocks. these volcano are also called living volcano. stromboli and itna in italy are active volcano.


extinct volcano : extinct volcano have not erupted hundred of years . there is no possiblity of any eruption in future .these volcano are also called dead volcanoes . Kilimanjaro in africa and Rainier in USA are extinct volcano

an active volcano has erupted atleast once in the past years and shows signs of erupting again 
an extinct volcano has not erupted since the past 100 years and shows no signs of erupting again in future
