where, R= resistance, A= area of cross-section, l= length *provided the material has Uniform geometrical dimensions

Original Formula: R= ρ(l/A), where ρ is a proportionality constant.

Resistance = \rho l/A

so, resistivity (\rho) = RA/L

Resistance (R) = V/I

V = Work done /charge

So, Resistance = Work done/charge /Current

= [ML²T-²]/[TA]/[A]

= [ML²T-³A-²]

Resistivity = Resistance × Area of cross section /Length

= [ML²T-³A-²][L²]/[L]

=[ML³T-³A-²]

This is the required dimensional formula .
