Answer:

Relative Density of a substance ( R.D.) = Density of the substance/Density of water, So, the R.D. is a simple ratio or a number. It has no units or dimensions. For example, the density of iron is 8.5 GM's/cm^3 & the density of water is 1 gm/cm^3 (in cgs Units).Or in other words, the dimensional formula of relative density = M^0 ×L^0×T^0 = NO UNITS.

Hey there!

Relative density of a substance is defined as the ratio density of substance to density of water.

It has no unit since units of density is division cancel each other.

So, it is dimensionless quantity.

We can represent dimensionless quantity as:

= M⁰L⁰T⁰
