Direction of force of friction is always opposite to the direction of Relative Motion of the objects. On each object in contact, the force of friction acts along the surface of contact. It is equal to the Mu * normal force exerted by the other body. Mu is same for both surfaces. Normal force exerted by one body on the other is equal to the force exerted by the 2nd body on the first.
But the friction force on 1st body and friction force on 2nd body are in opposite directions
