The disadvantages of friction are :-

• The surface of screws and ball bearing of machine wear out due to friction between the two surfaces.

• Friction causes damage to machine. The heat generated by a machine raises the temperature of the machine and damages it.

• Friction causes wear and tear .The soles of shoes and tyres of vehicles wear out gradually when used for a long time.

• Friction causes wastage of energy .Lots of energy is wasted because object in contact required more force to overcome friction between their rubbing surfaces.
