given lines y=x+2 and y=-×+8

x+y+2=0 , x+y-8=0

therefore compare with a1x+b1y+c1=0 and

a2x+b2y+c2=0

a1=1, b1=1, c1=2

a2=1, b2=1 , c2= -8

therefore, distance between parallel lines

 =   |c1 - c2|  \div   \sqrt{ {a}^{2} { + b}^{2}  }

 =  |2 + 8|   \div  \sqrt{1 + 1}  \\  =  |10|  \div  \sqrt{2}  \\  = \sqrt{50}

this is the method to solve the distance between parallel lines ...

hope this will helps you
