Question :—

what is the distance between the graph of the equation x is equal to -4 and x equal to

to -1 .

Solution:—

Given equations ,

  • x = -4 (1)
  • x = -1 (2)

Now, the point that represent the 1st eq= (-4 ,0 )

and the point that represent the 2nd eq = (-1,0)

Now, distance between the two points (-4 ,0) and (-1,0)

 =  \sqrt{ {(0 - 0)}^{2} +  {( - 1 - ( - 4))}^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{0 +  {( - 1 + 4)}^{2} }

 =  \sqrt{ {3}^{2} }

 =  \boxed{ \bold{3 \: unit}}

Hence , the distance between the graph of the equation x is equal to -4 and x equal to -1 is 3 unit .
