Given that : The equations of lines are 3x–4y+9=0 and 6x–8y–15=0

=> 3/6 = –4/–8 = 1/2

These ratios are equal so the lines are parallel.

Also select the point that lies on the line such that : 3x–4y = –9

(0,9/4)

So, 3(0)–4(9/4) = –9

Now distance of line equation 6x–8y–15=0 from the point (0,9/4)

d = | 6(0)–8(9/4)–15|/√6²+8²

=> d = 23/√100 = 23/10
