The apex court within the district dealing with criminals matters is named as sessions court as per Code Of Criminal Procedure. While the court dealing with civil matters is called district court.

There can be one session court for more than one district .In genral power of both criminal and civil court is vested in same judge ,when he hear criminal matters called sessions judge and hear civil matter called district judge. And court is called district and sessions court.
