Consumer Protection is a division of the Commercial Protection Directorate of Economic Development Department of Abu Dhabi.
With the aim to achieve a safe consumption environment, the department is responsible for developing and implementing plans, procedures and systems related to consumer protection that guarantee best services and commodities.

The right to be safe: the consumer has the right to be protected against products, production processes and services that are hazardous to health and safety.The right to be informed: the consumer has the right to be informed about any facts that will assist him/her in buying and consuming goods properly whilst being aware of their basic rights and responsibilities.The right to choose: the consumer has the right to choose from a variety of quality goods and services sold at competitive prices with quality assurance.The right to be heard: the consumer's interests are to be represented before official and non-official entities and his/her views are to be taken with regard to the development of goods and services.The right to be satisfied with the basic needs: the consumer must have access to necessary basic goods and services such as adequate food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education.The right to be compensated: the consumer has the right to a fair solution for his/her grievances about substandard, unsafe and unduly expensive goods and services, unfair claims and other unfair consumer practices.The right o be educated: The consumer shall have the right to gain the necessary knowledge and skills needed to perform the careful examination for goods and services, to be aware of his/her fundamental rights and responsibilities, and how to use them through the sustainable awareness program.The right to a healthy and sustainable environment: the consumer has the right to live and work in a hazard-free environment.
