What is the easiest way to identify what distracts you?
Answers
This is different for everyone. Some people are highly distractible because they have the learning disability “ADD.” Since I don’t know everyone, it would be impossible for me to tell you definitively what distracts them.
People can be distracted by noise, bad lighting, marital problems, problems with children or extended family, work issues, pets and just about anything else in their lives that is bothering them.
If you are distracted and don’t know why, it might be a good idea to explore this with a therapist. To locate one, you can call your health insurance company or ask a clergyperson. You can also contact The American Association of Psychologists or The National Society of Social Workers. If you have financial issues, you can get free therapy at The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s
Services (if there’s one near you) or The YMCA (you don’t need to be Jewish or Christian to get therapy at either place).
Alternatively, you can search for a nearby University that offers a Doctoral program in Psychology (i.e., the Psy.D degree [Doctor of Psychology]). Graduate students enrolled in these programs are well versed in Psychology and can offer intelligent, insightful therapy at a reduced fee.
