Its a very simple question . Its answer lies in definition of rational and irrational numbers
Rational number - Number which can be written in form of fraction are called rational numbers . Simply put Numbers which have no decimal , fixed number of digits after decimal or repeating number after decimal are called rational numbers.
Example - 23, 12.5 , 0.123123123123….. etc.
Irrational number - Number which have no end are called irrational number. they have infinite number of digits.
ex - pi. ( 3.14159265359….) , square root of two ( 1.41421356237….)
Note- Sometime for simplicity we write irrational number as irrational number but there is always error in that although it is very less . For example Pi cane written as 22/7 which is rational number but pi is irrational number. So error in writing pi as irrational number is :
Error = 22/7 - pi = 0.00126448926…
As you can see error is very less.
