Answer:

A centripetal force (from Latin centrum, "center" and petere, "to seek") is a force that makes a body follow a curved path. Its direction is always orthogonal to the motion of the body and towards the fixed point of the instantaneous center of curvature of the path. Isaac Newton described it as "a force by which bodies are drawn or impelled, or in any way tend, towards a point as to a centre". In Newtonian mechanics, gravity provides the centripetal force responsible for astronomical orbits.

Applications of Centripetal force:

To make an object move, force is required. Force acts differently depending on the type of motion. In the case of curvilinear motion, two types of force come into the picture, i.e., the centrifugal force and centripetal force. Centripetal force is the force acting towards the centre of the circular path. Whereas,

the centrifugal force acts in a direction pointing away from the centre of the circle.

Centripetal Force Formula is given as the product of mass (in kg) and tangential velocity (in meters per second) squared, divided by the radius (in meters). Which implies that On doubling the tangential velocity, the centripetal force will be quadrupled. Mathematically it is written as:

F=ma=mv2r

Where,

F is the Centripetal force.

a is the Centripetal acceleration.

m is the mass of the object.

v is the speed or velocity of the object.

r is the radius.

Examples:

1.Spinning a ball on a string or twirling a lasso: Here the centripetal force is provided by the force of tension on the rope pulls the object in toward the center.

2.Turning a car: Here the centripetal force is provided by the frictional force between the ground and the wheels.

3.Going through a loop on a roller coaster: The force is provided by the Normal Force as the seat or wall pushes you toward the center.

4.Planets orbiting around the Sun: Centripetal Force is provided by Gravity.

Centripetal force is the inward seeking pull of an object.

There are many applications that exploit centripetal force. one is to stimulate the acceleration of a space launch for astronaut training.

Whenever the unbalanced centripetal force acts perpendicular to the direction of motion, the speed of the object will remain constant...

hope it would help you...
