Extreme pressure may have the effect of turning a gaseous state of matter into liquid.
Pressure may cause liquid to turn into solid state of matter. When liquids are subjected to extreme pressure, the intermolecular distance drastically reduces and at some pressure, the liquids finally turn into solids.

By varying pressure, liquids can be changed into solids and gases can be changed into liquids.
Gases gets compressed into a small volume when subjected to high pressure and gets liquefied when we lower the temperature.
This is due to the space between particles of a gas is large and on applying pressure the particles are brought close to each other which upon cooling gets liquefied.
eg: Ammonia gas can be liquefied by this process. If pressure is increased then the liquid can be turned into solid.
