The dissolution of salts is generally increased with an increase in temperature.

  • For a solute to dissolve, the forces that held together solute molecules must be broken and new forces between solvent and solute molecules must be formed.
  • Both of the processes require energy.
  • By increasing temperature, energy is supplied in the form of heat.
  • This energy helps in weakening the forces between solute molecules and enhances their solubility.
  • Also the kinetic energy of solvent molecules increases due to heat and the number of collisions with solute molecules and the force of collision also increases. This also leads to increased solute solubility.
