on dilution the concentration of the substance decreases .....hence an acid would become less acidic ...yo be more specific it would become more basic

Effect of dilution on strength of acid is given below:
When we dilute an acidic solution, the number of H+ ions per ml of solvent decreases which means that it's acidic strength is decreased. Or we can say that pH of the solution will increase.
NOTE: Even after infinite dilution, the pH of acidic solution will remain less than 7.
