what is the effect of latitude on the temperature of a place

if a place is near the equator i.e 0deg latitude
it has a high temperature WHEREAS
if a place is far away from equator, it has less temperature

The latitudes itself does not show any effect on temperature of a place as they are just imaginary lines.But they divide the regions of earth according to their temperatures.Due to slantness or shape or curvature of earth the sunlight falls directly at equatorial regions and become slantly as go from equator to polar regions.So this the reason and latitudes just classify these regions and give more information for us..
