What is the effect of temperature on coarsening rate?

Answer:

Any further holding at high temperature will cause, grain coarsening to set in, because coarse grains are thermodynamically stable. Grain coarsening leads to reduction in grain boundary area and thus the surface free energy and hence the total energy of system decreases.
