What is the effect of temperature on resistivity for metals , non metals and alloys ?

Answer:

For insulators the conductivity of the material is increased, when the temperature is increased. When the conductivity of the material is increased, we know that the resistivity decreases and the current flow thus increases. So some insulators at room temperatures changes to conductors at high temperature.

Effect of temperature on resistivity :-

  1. Resistivity of a conductor increases linearly with increasing temperature.
  2. Resistivity or a semi- conductor decreases with increase temperature
  3. Resistivity increases with rise in temperature in insulators.
