when temperature increases the viscosity of a substance decreases but increases in gases

Explanation:

when the temperature is increased in a liquid, the molecules become more active and posess more kinetic energy which makes the intermolecular forces of attraction weak and hence viscosity decreases.

But in gases the particles become more active and posess more kinetic energy which in turn make the particles move around and hence offer difficulties for molecules to move pass through them.
