Causes of Bastar rebellion;1)The proposal act of 1905,by the government to reserve the two-thirds of the forest and stop shifting cultivation, collection of forest produce and hunting.2)Occurrence of terrible famine in 1899-1900 and again 1907-1908 which made the condition worst ultimately turned in rebellion.3)Displacement of the villagers without any notice.4)Some villages were allowed to stay in the reserved forest on the condition that they worked free from the forest departments in cutting and transporting trees and protecting the forest from fire.5)Villagers had to suffer from increased land rents and frequent demands for free labour and goods by colonial officials. Results of Bastar rebellion;-There was reduction in the area to be reserved roughly half of that planned before 1910.-In a major victory for the rebels, work on reservation was temporarily suspension
