when a body moves on a circular track with constant speed the net force acting on body is wholly directed towards the centre and is called centripetal force.......now if the speed of this body is either increasing or decreasing the net force acting on the body is not exactly towards the centre in such a case the component of force acting towards centre is called centripetal force and the component of force which is tangential to path is called tangential force.....so centripetal forces is always towards centre whether speed constant.....increasing or decreasing.....centripetal name means towards centre so it is always towards centre
