effective resistance[(1/p)] = 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/5

[(1/p)] = (20 + 10 + 8)/40

[(1/p)] = (38)/40

p/1 = 40/38

effective resistance (p) = 1.05 ohm

hope it helps
