We have to find the effective resistance when 10 resistors of 5Ω each are connected in series.

solution : when R₁ , R₂ , R₃ , R₄ , R₅ ... resistors are joined in series combination,

effective resistance is given as, R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃ + R₄ + R₅ + ....

here 10 resistors of 5Ω each are joined in series combination,

so effective resistance = R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃ + ... + R₁₀

= 5Ω + 5Ω + 5Ω + .... + 5Ω

= 10 × 5Ω

= 50Ω

Therefore the effective resistance is 10Ω
