1. An electric motor is used to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy.

2. It is a rotating device.

3. The principle of electric motor is the reverse of an electric generator.

4. There are two types of electric motor i.e AC motor and DC motor. The principle of the working of DC motor is much different from AC motor.

5. The principle of electric generator is when all coil carrying current placed in the magnetic field experiences are force that rotates the coil.

6. Applications of electric motor are in the electrical devices such as fans, air conditioner coolers and blenders work on AC motor principle.

7. The parts which are used in motor are as follows:-

(i) Armarture(abcd)-: It is consists of a large number of turns of insulated copper wire over the soft iron.

(ii) Magnetic field (B)

(iii) Split rings:- It alternates the direction of the flow of the current.

(iv) Brushes (B1 & B2)

(v) Battery
