The oxidation numbers are K=+1

C2O4= -2

So,According to formula...k=+3

c2o4= -6

oxidation no. of Fe

3+x-6=0

x=+3.........It is ferric ion present in potassium ferric oxalate

In complexes we calculate electronic configuration of metals only

Explanation:

K_{3}[Fe(C_{2}O_{4})_{3}]

K = +1 charge

C_{2}O_{4}(oxalate) = -2 charge

Fe = ?

3K will give -3 charge on metal complex, because it has +1 charge(3*1=3)

so, [Fe(C_{2}O_{4})_{3}]^{-3}

x+3*(-2)=-3

x-6=-3

x= +3

so, Fe has +3 oxidation state and now we will calculate electronic configuration

Fe has 3d^{6}4s^{2} configuration

and here it is in +3 oxidation state

so here electronic configuration of the complex is 3d^{5}
