The eligibility criteria to become a member of Gram Sabha is:-

  • The candidate must be enrolled in the voter list of the Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad constituency and must be a resident of the said Gram Panchayat or Zilla Parishad constituency for which he wishes to become a member of the Gram sabha.
  • The candidate must not be disqualified by any law to become a member of the Gram sabha.
  • In the case of a reserved seat, the candidate must be belonging to the community for which the seat has been reserved for example:  If a seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Backward Classes and women then the candidate must belong to the specific group for which the seat has been reserved.
