We have to find the energy of gamma ray photon having a wavelength of 1 AU.

solution : wavelength of gamma ray photon, λ = 1 AU = 1 astronomical unit = 1.5 × 10¹¹ m

we know, 1 astronomical unit = 1.496 × 10¹¹ m ≈ 1.5 × 10¹¹ m

we know, Energy of a photon is given by, E = hc/λ

where h is Plank's constant, c is speed of light and λ is wavelength.

here h = 6.63 × 10¯³⁴ Js , c = 3 × 10^8 m/s and λ = 1.5 × 10¹¹ m

so, E = (6.63 × 10¯³⁴ × 3 × 10^8)/(1.5 × 10¹¹)

= 13.26 × 10^-37 J

= 1.326 × 10¯³⁶ J

Therefore the energy of gamma ray is 1.326 × 10¯³⁶ J.
