Answer:

काभ्यः can mean two things:

in femenine gender, in plural sense (plural in sanskrit means more than two)-

1. for whom?

ex. This is for the mothers.

question: this is for whom?

in sanskrit: एतत् काभ्य:?

answer: एतत् मातृभ्य:। (this is for mothers)

2. from whom? (in sense of seperation)

ex. this is from mothers.

question: this is from whom?

in sanskrit: एतत् काभ्य:?

answer: एतत् मातृभ्य:। (this is from mothers)

So, काभ्यः can take two meanings, as shown above, in स्त्रिलिंग , बहुवचन (female gender, plural).

ex. This is for the trees.

question: this is for what?

in sanskrit: एतत् केभ्य:?

answer: एतत् बालकेभ्य:। (this is for trees)
