Answer:

Charge on all the capacitor in series is same

But the potential on the equivalent capacitor will be equal to the sum of the potential of the individual capacitor connected in series

Let the charge on each capacitor be Q and capacitance of each capacitor be C

Let the potential on each capacitor be V which is equal for all the capacitors

Q=CV(for each capacitor)

V=Q/C

V(total)=Q/C(equivalent)

If there are n capacitors,

V(total)=nV

Q/C(equivalent)=nQ/C

C(equivalent)=C/n
