Answer:

(i) In series: C = 12/35μF = 0.34μF

(ii) In parallel: C = 1.40μF = 7/5μF

Explanation:

I think, given capacitos are: C₁ = 0.60μF = 3/5μF and C₂ = 0.80μF = 4/5μF

w.k.t., equivalent capacitance of two capacitors C₁ and C₂ connected in

(i) series: 1/C = 1/C₁ + 1/C₂

(ii) parallel: C = C₁+C₂

(i) In series:

\frac{1}{C} = \frac{5}{3} + \frac{5}{4}

\frac{1}{C} = \frac{5*4+5*3}{3*4}

\frac{1}{C} = \frac{20+15}{12}

\frac{1}{C} = \frac{35}{12}

⇒ C = 12/35μF = 0.34μF

(ii) In parallel:

C = 0.60+0.80

⇒ C = 1.40μF = 7/5μF
