answer : 10.33g

explanation : basically, equivalent weight of any substance = atomics weight/molecular weight of substance/n-factor

where n - factor for

  • an element => valency , e.g., n-factor of Na = 1, n-factor of O = 2
  • a compound => oxidation state e.g., n - factor of Al in AlCl3 = 3
  • an acid => basicity e.g., n-factor of H2SO4 = 2
  • a basic => acidity e.g., n factor of NaOH = 1

here PH3 is a compound and we know, oxidation state of Phosphorus in PH3 = +3

so, n-factor = 3

we know, atomic weight of phosphorus = 31 g

so, equivalent weight of phosphorus in PH3 = 31/3 = 10.33g
