Homogenising media is a step taken to ensure  a sterile and consistent environment before autoclaving.

Explanation:

•The foremost reason for homogenisation is to maintain uniformity by reducing particle size of given sample thereby helping users  to achieve meaningful results.

•To mix substances well , allowing it to combine with properly with necessary chemicals maintaining consistency.

•It is also used to lyse / degrade barriers (cell wall, cell membranes ) to expose the intercellular components microbe cells before autoclaving.

•For sterilisation of samples .This is perhaps the most important use of a homogeniser as it helps to eliminate unnecessary microbes and pathogens.

•Several kinds of homogenisers such as mechanical, high pressure and ultra-sonic ones can be used to render samples with varying levels of sterility.
