In an AC generator, the electrical current reverses direction after a set interval of time. With a DC, or direct current, generator, the current flows only in one direction, and does not reverse its direction.

The essential difference between AC generator is that (a) AC generator has an electromagnetic while DC generator has permanent magnet (b) AC generator will generate a higher voltage (c) AC generator has slip rings while DC generator has a commuter.

Harshitchhipa: Thank
AditiShankaraShastri: What is a slip ring? What is a commuter?
Harshitchhipa: for this u hv to stdy the full topic of AC nd DC generator
