The water pressure is about 10kpa per meter. If we add that pressure with the atmospheric pressure it comes upto 140 kpa

Given :

Depth below the sea level = 4m

To Find :

The pressure of air in the lungs of the diver

Solution :

  • The atmospheric pressure of the air also called as air pressure is 1 bar (or) 1×10⁵ pascals
  • For every one meter depth below the sea level the pressure nearly increases by one bar

       P=P_{0}+ \rho gh

       P=P_{0} +(1000\times9.8\times4)

       P=1\times10^{5}+ 0.392\times10^{5}

       P=1.392\times10^{5}pa

       P=1.392bar

The pressure of air in the lungs of the diver is 1.392 bar
