Simplify

 \frac{ {x}^{2}  + 3x - 4}{ {x}^{2} + 4x - 5 }  \\  = \frac{ {x}^{2}  + 4x - x - 4}{ {x}^{2} + 5x - x - 5 } \\  =  \frac{x(x + 4) - 1(x + 4)}{x(x + 5) - 1(x + 5)}  \\  =  \frac{(x + 4)(x - 1)}{(x + 5)(x - 1)}  \\  =  \frac{x + 4}{x + 5}

Given :  ( x² + 3x - 4) / (x² + 4x - 5)

To Find : factors of Numerator and denominator

and simplified form of fraction

Solution:

Numerator = x² + 3x - 4

Using middle term split

= x² + 4x - x - 4

= x(x + 4) - 1(x + 4)

= (x + 4)(x - 1)

Denominator

x² + 4x - 5

= = x² +5x - x - 5

= x(x + 5) - 1(x + 5)

= (x + 5)(x - 1)

(x + 4)(x -1)/(x+5)(x - 1)

cancel (x -1 ) from numerator and denominator

= ( x + 4)/(x + 5)

( x² + 3x - 4) / (x² + 4x - 5) = (x + 4)/(x + 5)
