The system of producing goods made on a mass scale by machines in a factory which replaced goods made by individualcraftsmen. The factory system evolved in England in the eighteenth century as part of the Industrial Revolution.

This system is method of manufacturing using machinery and division of labour .. The factory system was first adopted in Britain at the beginning of industrial revolution in the late 18th century and later spread around the world .
