During the 3-day course participants acquired basic knowledge related to disasters as a phenomenon, the disaster management process and its close relation to the risk management process, as well as the main players and mechanisms in disaster response.
The learning objectives were fully covered during the course which resulted in enhancing the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the participants in the disaster management domain.
The course content included presentations on various topics, such as critical infrastructure, disaster risk management, capabilities development, international organizations role in disasters, etc.
Moreover, thought-provoking, interesting and valuable teamwork exercises were introduced as the participants had to resolve a different task each day.
CMDR COE would like to express special appreciation and gratitude to the guest-speakers from the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the National Military University and JCBRN Defence COE.
The results from the end-of-course test, compared to the initial test, reveal significant improvement and increase in the participants’ knowledge.
In the final survey many attendees indicated that it would be beneficial if the course length is extended. Therefore, to meet the participants’ recommendation, the Centre intends to conduct the next Disaster Management Course over a period of 5 days.
