The nephron is the filtration unit of the kidney as it filters waste products from the blood to form urine. The nephron is composed of the Malpighian body, the proximal and distal convoluted tubules, the Loop of Henle and the collecting tubule. See the attached picture for details on physiology.

The main basic filtration unit of kidney is Nephron.
There are millions of nephrons present inside the kidney that cleanse the water and excrete the waste materials from the body. Each nephron is made up of several components which perform specific function in the filtration process.
Each nephron has a filter, glomerulus and a tubule.
