Division is the answer after you divide one number by another.

dividend ÷ divisor = quotient,

The question is asking us to divide x^{3}-1 by x+2.

To divide the expression we look at the first terms of dividend and divisor.

The first term of dividend is x^{3} .The first term of divisor is x^{2}.We will look at the term which when multiplied to x will give us x^{3}..

x times x^{2} is x^{3}.

So the first term of the quotient will be x^{2}
