First World environment day was on 5th June, 1972 and was declared by the UN General Assembly,mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

Two years later, in 1974 the first WED was held with the theme "Only One Earth".

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on 5th June every year worldwide by the people aiming to protect the 'Environment'.

It is also known as UN World Environment Day, Eco Day and Environment Day.
