Aloe vera is also known as medicinal aloe. It has an unusual shape. Aloe vera grows well in grassland, deserts, alpines and also coastal regions.

They have spined or smooth fleshy leaves, with green to blue-green in colour. Their flowers are produced in varying sizes but are usually tubular in shape.

It is their fleshy leaves that help them to succumb through droughts. The stomata on the aloe vera only open at night to absorb carbon d oxide and manufacture food the next morning.
