fluid property of plasma membrane are ------->>>>

•The cell membrane has many proteins, as well as other lipids (such as cholesterol), that are associated with the phospholipid bilayer.

• Membranes must be fluid in order to function properly; their movement resembles the fluidity of salad oil. Most lipids move laterally within the plane of the membrane.

• Lipids also can move transversely (switching from one phospholipids to another), however that motion is not nearly as common. In the membrane, lateral movement of phospholipids is rapid.

•Proteins, on the other hand, are larger and thus move slower. Cholesterol has different effects on membrane fluidity at different temperatures; at warm temperature the membrane becomes less fluid by restraining the movement of phospholipids.

•Unsaturated hydrocarbons do not pack together as tightly as saturated carbons because of the kinks in the tails where the double bonds are located
