Question :

  • What is the force of gravity on a body of mass 150 kg lying on the surface of the earth?( mass of earth = 6 \times 10 {}^{24} kgRadius of earth = 6.4 \times 10 {}^{6} mG=6.7 \times 10 {}^{ - 11 \:} nm {}^{2} kg

Given :

  • mass of earth = 6 \times 10 {}^{24} kg, Radius of earth = 6.4 \times 10 {}^{6} m, G=6.7 \times 10 {}^{ - 11 \:} nm {}^{2} kg

Solution :

Given mass = 150kg

Mass of the earth = 9.8 m/s² (Given)

Force = 150×9.8

= 1470.0

= 1470 N

= \sf\frac{10}{147}
