What is the force required to break a wire having length 10 m area of cross section 10 metre per metre square and breaking stress of 10^6 n m-2?

SOLUTION_

BS= F/A

BS= Mg/A....where Density(D)=M/V

V=A×L so... mass= Density×A×L

BS= rho*A*L*g/A

To find length,

L= BS / D*g

L= 7.9× 10^8/ 7.9×10^3×9.8

L= 0.102 × 10^5

L= 10.2km
