A forest fire is an uncontrolled fire occurring in nature. Sometimes, the forest fire is so large that it takes a long time for the fire fighting crews to gain control over the situation. This could result in massive destruction.

Generally a counter fire is setup from opposite direction of fire by cutting down trees .

for example if fire starts from starting trees are cut down in middle or some distance away from starting and counter fire is set from middle where trees are cut to starting of fire .
so the fire burns area until trees are cut and stops there completely. sometimes aircrafts are also used to put of fire by throwing water sand etc.
