RELATIVE ATOMIC MASS =
The average mass of one atom
__________________________
1/2 x The mass of carbon-12 atom

One relative atomic mass or formula= 1/2 x the mass of carbon-12 atom
For calculating the relative atomic mass of a molecule you should know the atomic mass of the constituent elements of the molecule concerned.
Let's assume you have to find the relative atomic mass of water (H²O).
Atomic mass of Hydrogen (w)= 1
Atomic mass of Oxygen (w)= 16
Number of H atoms in H²O (n)=2
Weight of H in H²O (nw)= 2x1= 2
Number of O atoms in H²O (n)=1
Weight of O in H²O= 1x16 (nw)=16
Relative atomic mass= 16+1=17

Hope it helps ^_^
