Ratio the no. of atoms X and Y = 8/3:4 =2:3
And,
the formula of compond is X2Y3.

What is the formula of a compound in which the element y forms ccp lattice and atoms of x occupy 1/3 of tetrahedral void?

\huge\rm\underline\orange{Answer :-}

\red{\underline\bold{To\:find:}}

  • Formula of the Compound = ?

\blue{\underline\bold{Given,}}

  • Element Y forms ccp lattice.
  • Atoms of X occupy \frac{1}{3}rd of tetrahedral voids.

\green{\underline\bold{Now,}}

✏ Suppose the atoms Y in the ccp = n

✏ ∴ Number of tetrahedral voids = 2n

✏ As \frac{1}{3}rd of tetrahedral voids are occupied by the atoms X, therefore :

✏ No. of atoms, X = \frac{2n}{3}

\pink{\underline\bold{Again,}}

✏ Ratio of X:Y = \frac{2n}{3} : n

✏ = 2:3

\pink{\underline\bold{ Hence, \:The\:required\:formula\:is\:X2Y3 .\: }}
